Beyond The Classroom

SES CADETS

McClelland offers a unique SES cadets course.

This can be a one, two or three year program, supported by the Victorian Government through the Office of Youth that provides a skills development environment for potential leaders. This is a hands-on training initiative, designed to take students out of the classroom in order to offer them a range of opportunities that promote youth leadership. The activities undertaken are designed to develop teamwork, community service, leadership, individual responsibility, self-discipline and confidence.

Upon successful completion of the two year program, students will have gained an accredited first aid course and credits to their VCE or VCAL course. Through training at the SES headquarters there is the potential to gain SES certificates in various areas of rescue that the SES are involved in, these certificates can count towards credits for VCE and VCAL and a full Certificate II SES Rescue Vet certificate. As an SES cadet, students gain knowledge and skills that will assist the wider community and provide a valued addition to a student’s resume for a potential employer.
